Three-Tiered Visa Pathways For SID Visa
The Department of Home Affairs has introduced the updated Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL). The Skills in Demand (SID) visa has replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa, with a new three-tiered system designed to to allow applicants to access the program based on their annual income and occupation.
The three-tiered visa pathways as follows:
Specialist Skills Pathway (SSP) | Core Skills Occupation Pathway (CSP) | Essential Skills Pathway(ESP) |
A guaranteed annual income of no less than AUD 135,000 (adjusted annually); no limitations on age or occupation list (though trades workers, machine operators, drivers, and laborers are excluded); priority processing within 7 days. | A guaranteed annual income of at least AUD 73,150 (adjusted annually); a streamlined and frequently updated Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) overseen by Jobs and Skills Australia; proposed processing time of 21 days. | Guaranteed annual earnings under AUD 73,150, but within essential skill occupations in sectors such as aged care and disability services (the government is presently conducting an assessment, likely leading to a sector-specific strategy with a more stringent regulatory framework). |
