Being on the list is only the first step. Where your occupation sits in the invitation queue matters just as much.
Thinking about Australia’s Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189)? Our updated 2026 guide puts the full Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) in one searchable table, with all 212 eligible occupations, their ANZSCO codes and the skills assessing authority for each.
However, a place on the list does not guarantee an invitation. Invitations now run through quarterly rounds under a tiered occupation prioritisation model, so some occupations are invited at modest points scores while others need much higher scores. Knowing where your occupation stands before you pay for a skills assessment could save you time and money.
Inside the guide:
- The full MLTSSL table, searchable by occupation title or ANZSCO code
- The assessing authority for each occupation
- MLTSSL vs CSOL: which list applies to which visa
- The five steps from skills assessment to invitation
